About Derius, ~21 AV: Twenty years old and assigned to the First Aleran Legion, Des is tall--an inch or two over six feet--and slender, with light brown hair and angular, vividly green eyes. Rather attractive, his face has an unusual mixture of traits: on the one hand very Roman patrician family, and on the other something else entirely. He's slender, but not weak or it--carrying around eighty pounds of armor every day adds muscle fast. A rather quiet, studious type by nature, Des is nearly always mild-mannered, even when making a joke. He's a defensive style chess player, but despite this general approach to life can move quickly, decisively, and with deadly force when necessary.

As powerful a furycrafter as his parents, he knows his duty to his people and has been training all his life to step into his father's shoes when the time comes. He adores his parents and siblings, though he doesn't alwas show it too readily. Generally somewhat awkward with people, he tends to be reserved unless someone gives him some reason to open up quickly. He does, however, speak at length and with great passion about his responsibility to his people and Realm when pressed--and it's really only then that the faint hint of the devotion beyond reason to that cause which runs so deeply in his family.
